Partnership is the key to the effective use of the arts in public health

Arts and Health

Remember when using art as a health tool, to be clear about the purpose of the approach and the theory behind how it might work. Razzle dazzle public entertainment can have a place to attract people to an event as long as the health component is equally as effective.

Art for health's sake
All art is not popular with all target groups. It is important to use social market research to work out what kind of art you can use for health purposes with different groups.

In this website I have concentrated on pop music, comedy and the written word. I have also tended  to focus on using professionally prepared resources or performances to engage people rather than more participative approaches. The full range of ways of using arts in health however is discussed in the below PDF. I look at this issue from both the point of view of health and art workers.

(If you are particularly interested in using pop music in art, check out my other site; Inspiration Jukebox.)
